Groundwater & Environmental Management Services Inc. (GEMS) specializes in the process of obtaining environmental permits for all stages of development and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations for development, infrastructure and remediation projects. GEMS also provides services relating to environmental emergency response, such as emergency site restoration, monitoring etc.

We are currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our dedicated team of professionals.

Openings Are Available in the Following Location(s):

Richmond Hill (Head Office); Position requires travel to and from jobsites.

General Job Description:

The individual will be a senior level geotechnical engineer with a minimum 5 years Canadian experience (preferably in Southern Ontario) and join us as an important member of our team. Primary responsibilities will be to perform excavation observations, field sampling, supporting drilling operations, setting up laboratory testing and analysis, consulting to contractors regarding compaction and field issues and report writing. Projects will include slope stability studies, soft soil investigations, groundwater control, and foundation and settlement analysis.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or other related engineering degree
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Internship, experience or shown interest in geotechnical engineering
  • Team player
  • Flexible, willing to work hard
  • Can take direction
  • Self motivated
  • Problem solver
  • Good communication skills
